Outsourcing seen as great job creator, cost effective

Outsourcing, which is contracting with another company or person to do a particular function, is seen as a great job creator that Nigeria should tap into. This, among others, was the reason why outsourcing professionals gathered on Wednesday at the Lagos Sheraton Hotel to discuss how the Association of Outsourcing Professionals of Nigeria (AOPN), registered in 2009, could be made stronger than it is now.

This is coming on the heels of a similar event, a two-day job fair, held in September this year, by ACCESS Nigeria (Assessment of Core Competence for Employability in Services Sector) in collaboration with the World Bank at the National Theatre, Lagos.

Outsourcing, critical tool for economic growth — Stakeholders

THE Association of Outsourcing Professionals of Nigeria has described outsourcing as a critical element in the process of achieving economic growth and job creation opportunities in Nigeria.

Speaking at a one-day forum organised by the association in Lagos on Wednesday, the President, AOPN, Dr. Austin Nweze, said for Nigeria to achieve its dream of becoming one of the best 20 economies of the world as well as attain the Vision 2020 objectives, the issue of outsourcing must be in the front burner.

Nweze spoke on the theme, “Accelerating growth through outsourcing.”

He said though Chinese and Indian economies were growing rapidly because they took the issue of outsourcing very seriously, Nigeria could catch up with them if we also imbibe the culture of outsourcing.
